Welcome to the Baccy Bygones website. You may think that this is a
controversial subject for a website - well we don't attempt to
condone or condemn smoking, we are just interested in the items of
tobacco related memorabilia which have been produced over the years.
Let us introduce ourselves – we are Alan and Jo Waterhouse, we are
ex-publicans, and though we are both non-smokers now, we have spent
many a night in a smoke filled tap room, where over the years we
have accumulated a collection of tobacco related items. These items
often date back to a time when smoking was considered fashionable
and they spark fond memories of the characters who regularly used
them, both family members and pub customers.
We realised that as tobacco advertising is now being actively
discouraged, the paraphernalia associated with smoking is likely to
become more collectable, so we decided to set up a website dealing
in tobacciana. We are sure that there are many other collectors out
there who do not want to see these lovely pieces disappear - they
are, after all, a part of our history.
