I was fortunate to have spent my teenage years
in the early 60's when music was going through a massive transition. The
first records I bought were 'What do you want' by Adam Faith and (Til) 'I
kissed you' by the Everlys. I attended numerous concerts and was privileged to see many top groups, including The Beatles (City Hall Sheffield), Rolling Stones (Queens Hall Leeds), The Hollies (Mr Smiths Manchester), Small Faces (Mojo Sheffield), Yardbirds (Marquee London). After attending a Stones concert in Leeds, I obtained my first set of autographs and from there my passion grew. Over the following years I have amassed a huge collection of autographs and records. In the main my collection has been obtained through sources as diverse as; in person signatures, private collectors, reputable dealers and auctions. I have been astonished how much the value of autographs have rocketed over the years and many people are now purchasing autographs as an investment opportunity. Come in, take your time and browse my gallery and catalogue. I'm confident you will not be disappointed. Gered Mankowitz

Gered Mankowitz |
Details |
Gered Mankowitz is regarded as one of the
greatest rock photographers of the last 50 years. In 1963, Gered met and photographed the singing duo Chad and Jeremy, who had just signed with Ember records. One of these photos was used as the cover of the duo's first album, "Yesterday's Gone", and Gered found himself working in the music industry at a time when it desperately needed new, mould breaking images. He began to work with a new generation of producers like John Barry, Shel Talmy and Chris Blackwell photographing artists who were of his own age group and who felt at ease with him in a way that had not been possible with other photographers. At the end of 1963 Gered opened his first studio, at 9 Masons Yard in the heart of London's West End. On one side was the infamous disco "The Scotch of St.James", hangout of the pop glitterati of the time, and on the other the art gallery "Indica", partly financed by The Beatles and where John Lennon met Yoko Ono. Within a few months Gered had already begun to make a name for himself, and he was approached to photograph Marianne Faithful, who had just had a big hit with "As Tears Go By". Working closely with Marianne he got to know her manager and producer Andrew Loog Oldham. In early 1965, Oldham asked him to photograph the Rolling Stones, who he also managed and produced. This was a major turning point in Gered's career, because from this first session came the cover for "Out of Our Heads" (U.S. title "December's Children"), and as a result he was asked by the Stones to go to America with them on their record breaking 1965 autumn tour. During this 9 week (48 city) tour of the U.S. Gered photographed the Stones on stage and off, and got particularly close to Keith and Charlie. There were many adventures as Gered found himself on the road with the greatest Rock band in the world at the peak of their original success. Gered continued working with the Stones as their 'official' photographer, producing photos for albums ("Between the Buttons"; "Got Live If You Want It"; "Big Hits"; and several others), press and publicity, taken at home, in the recording studio, on stage and behind the scenes until 1967, when the band broke off with their manager, Oldham. Through the 60's, Gered continued in the music world working with Oldham at his famous Immediate label, and with many other major artists including Jimi Hendrix, Free, Traffic, The Yardbirds, The Small Faces and Soft Machine. In to the 70's with Slade, Gary Glitter, Suzi Quatro, Sweet, Elton John, Kate Bush, Eurythmics, ABC, Duran Duran and many others. Some of his portraits of rock musicians, such as The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix and Slade, are now part of the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery. |

The Rollin' Stoned - "The Greatest Rock 'n' Roll Tribute Band in the World"
Website |
The Rollin' Stoned |
Details |
"The Greatest Rock 'n' Roll Tribute
Band in the World" With a Rollin' Stoned show, the costumes are shamelessly camp gaudy and fab, the instruments genuinely vintage and the wit irreverent. However while the tongue is never far from the cheek we make sure it is never to the detriment of the music. This band is not to be confused with the grotesque parody on parody 'Stella Street' -Lite Stones bands that abound, nor a bunch of seasoned old pros, opportunistically hitched on to the "Tribute Bandwagon" for an easy ride. What clearly comes across to audiences seeing the band at work is the passion we all have for the music of what is, cliche or not, "The Greatest Rock'n'Roll Band" the world has seen. A typical two hour show includes not only all the classic crowd pleasing hits, but is spiced with enough eclectic selections from the deeper recesses of Stones Album archives to satisfy the most demanding of "Buffs", all performed with the same vibrantly authentic attack and raw energy that characterised the original Stones shows in their prime. For those who witnessed the Stones - Brian Jones et al - in their
heyday, this is a chance to revisit lost youth, for the rest of you, now's
your chance to see what all the fuss was about. |

The Cavernites - a Sixties tribute show that recreates the vibrant sounds and atmosphere of the Swinging Sixties
Website |
The Cavernites |
Details |
The Cavernites are a Four piece band in
the classic Sixties style, from Liverpool, who perform a Sixties tribute
show that recreates the vibrant sounds and atmosphere of the Swinging
Sixties. The band take their name from the fan club members of The
Cavern Club in Liverpool, the most famous club in the world, the club
that saw the birth of The Beatles and showcased all the top bands during
the Sixties. Britain in 1962, and especially Liverpool, was a place where the Rock n’ Roll of the fifties had been fused with American R’n’B by the local beat groups, to create a raw, high-energy brand of music which was honed in sweaty pubs and clubs, such as The Cavern Club in Liverpool, and The Kaiserkeller, Indra and Star clubs in Hamburg. The Cavernites re-create those days and the birth of what became known as Mersey Beat or The Liverpool or Mersey Sound a musical style that took the UK by storm, influencing countless groups across the country. The Cavernites recreate this era performing classic hits from groups like The Beatles, The Searchers, The Swinging Blue Jeans, The Mersey’s, The Hollies, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Who and many other hit groups from the Sixties. The Cavernites bring The Sixties back to life, taking the audience on a Magical Musical History Tour, through One of the greatest musical decades of all time, it's a fast and vibrant show, designed to get everyone dancing along. The Cavernites are an accurate live recreation of a Sixties pop group during the Beatlemania years as seen on shows like 'Ready Steady Go’ and ’Top of the Pops' authentically recreating not only the look but the live sound of the bands they perform, bring back the vibrancy and passion of the original bands and transporting the audience right back to the Sixties. The Cavernites use original instruments from the period, names like Rickenbacker, Epiphone, Gibson, and the famous Hofner Violin Beatle Bass, together with a Black Ludwig drum kit, they also use original amplifiers, names such as Marshal and Vox. The Sixties look is completed by the use of original stage clothes including the classic Sixties style Black thin lapelled suits, narrow leg trousers, White button down collared shirts, thin ties and the famous Cuban heeled Black Beatle boots. The Rock n Rolls Sightseeing Tour of London
is the greatest way to visit the landmark sites in London that made it the
rocking hub for the swinging sixties and seventies The Rolls-Royce acquired cult status in the swinging sixties as iconic transport for the rich and famous. To be a hit was to be seen in a ‘Roller.’ This is a once in a life time chance to glide through London in a Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow and relive those Fab times by visiting a kaleidoscope of famous places where the movers and shakers of the 60’s and 70's rock world hung out and worked and died! Ronnie Scott is your private guide who will help you discover the swinging city in true style. Join him in his own 1976 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow where you will be escorted through the heart of the city while you discover many of the famous areas of London which help to shape Pop and Rock History. The tour tells the story of swinging London from the start of Skiffle to the heady days of the Beatles roof top concert and the Stones in Hyde Park Ronnie has lived in London for the past 40 years and knows every side street of this fascinating city Coupled with this knowledge is his great enthusiasm for the pop and rock scene in Britain during the swinging eras which oozes out from every brick and cobblestone, every street and mansion visited. Feel like a Rock star for the day as you glide through the streets of London and grab the opportunity to see, hear and photograph the sites in the coolest city in the world in one of the coolest cars ever made!
