Music is the language of youth culture, the vehicle by which a
generation finds and expresses it's unique identity and
aspirations.
The Portelli Pop Icon collection starts with Frank Sinatra as the
first musical icon to be adopted by teenagers in the new radio and
television world.
The 18 pieces I have chosen for this collection have been selected
because they represent a cultural shift and are therefore a
milestone along the route that is a documentary on social history
spanning 6 decades.
In order to bring this collection into the public domain I chose
to present my concept to the Dragons' Den panel of entrepreneurs,
which could either sink the boat or bring the project into the
public eye at a level I have aspired to for the last 30 years.
