images and footage in these tapes go back far beyond that date. The Orient Line 1917 - 1962 Some P & O 1918 - 1962 Some Cunard and White Star Liners. (They are in Black and white and colour and the Cunard film includes film in the 70's and QE2 up to 2008 but none of the new liners.) Joe Clark first went to sea as a nine year-old boy in the newly re-conditioned RMS Orion. The voyage to Australia took five weeks. He returned in the same ship some five years later by which time his love of the sea and ships was firmly embedded. As soon as he was able to leave school, he joined the Orient Line as a Cadet Purser. He served on Otranto, Orontes, Orion, Orcades, Orsova and the Empire Orwell. He sailed on voyages to Australia, the west coast of America, and the Far East, as well as the occasional cruise to the Mediterranean, Scandinavia and the Pacific Isles. Go into any typical Fancy Dress shop and you will probably find nothing we stock. Almost all our clothes are unique, vintage items and we are very proud to say they are all on hangers, not in bags!!! Secondly, we don't sell anything. Actually, well, we do sell wigs, masks, stage make-up and the odd accessories, as well as an occasional modern dress or two that come to us via fashion shows, but mostly we are a hire shop. Independent Studios UK and Archive Film Shop
is now Timereel. Timereel sell local interest DVDs, all made using
original archive film. The team behind Timereel produce the DVDs too,
scouring through the archives to select gems of film clips that bring
the past back to life. Our DVDs give you the chance to look back in time
at the places you know. The range also includes documentaries on topics
like wartime life, farming and steam railways, as well as some old
television favourites. The company was formed in 2003 and is run by
Andrew Gray and Ashley Bond, both of whom have come from a film and
television background. The company has worked with both the East Anglian
Film Archive and more recently, ITN Source.
Working originally with the East Anglian Film Archive, the team released a series of DVDs on Norfolk and Suffolk history in 2007. Over time, the collection expanded to include titles for Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire as well as many Anglia Television favourites. In 2009, the company began working with ITN Source. Using the New
Classics collection, the team released a whole new range of DVD titles

Peter began his education in the
entertainment business at the age of five at the Barbara Speak stage
school in London. After this, Peter was educated by his father Lonnie
Donegan, M.B.E. as well as receiving private tuition on the piano,
achieving grade 7 as well as attending the summer school at Sylvia
Young's theatre school at the age of thirteen. Once Peter turned eighteen, he was invited to join the Lonnie Donegan Band, performing as keyboard player with the band and as the opening act before each concert. Peter spent two years in the band where he was able to learn hands on from the experience of his father Lonnie and during that time he also worked with Van Morrison. After the untimely death of Lonnie during a tour, the family organized, a tribute at the Royal Albert Hall in London, during which, Peter and the Lonnie Donegan Band were provided backing for a kaleidoscope of well known artists, which included, Chas 'n' Dave, Billy Bragg, Rolf Harris, Ralf McTell, Barron Nights, Rick Wakeman, Mark Knopfler, Joe Brown, Roger Daltrey, Joe Cocker, Van Morrison, Chris Barber, Bruce Welch and Chris Farlowe. In 2007, Peter performed on tour with Crystal Gayle on her British tour as her opening act and performed a song with Crystal and her band during her set. Peter has performed with a variety of musicians at The Sage, Gateshead as a guest: - Bill Wyman and his Rhythm Kings, featuring Eddie Floyd, Albert Lee and Hogan's Heroes. Peter then formed his own band, the Peter Donegan Band playing a mixture of material that Lonnie played but in Peter's own style and new material written by Peter. In 2006, they recorded a live album, The Elephant on the Tyne. They played at venues across the North East as well as appearing at a number of festivals, developing a fan base along the way. In 2009 Peter decided that he wanted to take a different musical direction and teamed up with the original Lonnie Donegan Band and took to the road with The Lonnie Donegan Band featuring Peter Donegan. Bow and Crossbones is a new, independent,
alternative, handmade jewellery and accessories company from the
Midlands which promises quirk and originality. Bow and Crossbones was
created in June 08 after being a little discontent with what was on
offer on the high street. Not being able to find what they really wanted
they began making pieces for themselves, that they liked and would wear.
They soon proved popular with other ladies alike, those that aren’t
afraid to be a little bit daring and different when it comes to adding
that little something to their attire.
When Bow and Crossbones aren’t busy designing and creating you can
find them regularly attending tattoo conventions up and down the
country, holding Bow and Crossbones stalls showcasing their work and

Naomi’s musical talent and extraordinary
voice were first recognised when she was just a young teenager. This was
hardly surprising given the way in which her parents had immersed her in the
music of Bessie Smith, Leadbelly, Robert Johnson and other blues Greats and
it was only natural that she should move onto listening to such jazz Divas
as Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald. Naomi’s desire to entertain led her to sing with a number of different bands on the jazz and blues circuit in her early twenties, and she was chosen to sing live on BBC Radio Shropshire in 1996. Despite taking a short break to marry and have children Naomi inevitably returned to her singing career three years ago and immediately found herself in great demand at a variety of society functions, including weddings, fashion shows, vintage themed dances/parties (playing popular music from the 1900s - 1940s) and the 2009 and 2010 Ludlow Food Festival. Currently Naomi provides a stunning front for a sixteen piece show band as well as mesmerising the audience with her more intimate Naomi Payne Quartet which plays jazz, blues, classic and Latin numbers. Together these two allow her to give full range to her magnificent voice, equally comfortable delivering the husky blues classics as the show stopping Broadway hits. Rocket Originals was originally formed back
in 1988 and after a break of a number of years (and also due to redundancy
from a "normal" job) we're back! Our on-line shop opened in 2006. We're based in Sheffield in the U.K. We've been collecting and wearing vintage clothing from the 1940's and 1950's and been on the "scene" for over 30 years now since when were teenagers - and we don't intend to change now. As for our business, we have our own range of Rocket Originals' shoes for men and women manufactured, we're very fussy in trying to get things right (yep, we drive our manufactures up the wall at times!) and try to get them as authentic as possible, they're made from original patterns in most cases. The men's shoes are all made here in England, as are our men's socks and belts. We're proud to be doing our bit in helping keep our British industries alive and try, whenever possible, to have our stock manufactured in good old blighty. Our ladies Belts are also manufactured in England. All the designs are taken from vintage knitting patterns, and one of the companies we use still has a vintage mechanical knitting machine, so we have some of ours knitted on that (very authentic!) We get asked "don't you knit them yourselves" - well, no we don't (we can't knit that well, it would take forever and wouldn't look nearly as neat!) As well as selling through our website we like to get out there and meet people and sell at various events, and we'll be having a stall at quite a few weekenders etc this year, which will be listed on our homepage as and when they come along. Diane and I specialise in quality reproduction 40s and 50s clothing all
professionally made by myself. Ladies range includes dresses, skirts
and petticoats. Children's will include all of the above from age 2 - 14.
Accessories to compliment your outfit are belts hair fascinators and flowers

Jukeboxes are fast becoming the must have
accessory for the home. It is a centrepiece, conversation subject, and for
many a return to a mis-spent youth. Those of us that still remember vinyl
boxes in coffee shops, pubs, clubs and colleges yearn for a piece of their
past. Unfortunately many jukes built in the 1950s and 60s have been neglected over the years, and they tend to either shoved in corners or garages gathering dust while the parts seize up. The modern jukebox with its CDs and replaceable circuit boards are easier to repair. The older ones however need that touch of experience. That is where Jukes of Stafford are different. Our chief engineer, Len Beddow, has worked with jukeboxes since the early 1960s. What he doesn't know about retro jukes isn't worth knowing. He prides himself on his knowledge, and has yet to be beaten!! In addition, we come to you. No matter where you are we do not burden you with the task of getting the juke to our workshop, you just need to be there to let us in!! Our knowledge of jukeboxes also means we are the place to call if you are looking to buy. With new or beautifully restored boxes for sale, Jukes of Stafford is the only place to call. |
