Here Digger, who remembers a lot of these patterns the first time around, talks to Gary about UK Wallpaper who offer a wide range of retro-themed wallpapers.

Digger: Can you please tell us a little bit about UK Wallpaper Gary? 

Gary: UK Wallpaper is the website of Cosham Decor, an independent wallpaper specialist retailer which was established in 1994. 

Digger: Please tell us more about the retro-style wallpapers on offer. 

Gary: General large florals, circles and geometrics. Most tend to be fairly bright. 

Digger: Where do the papers/designs come from? 

Gary: Most of the Retro styles are from Germany or Dutch but we buy in basically anything we think people would like.

Digger: Who are your typical customers for these wallpapers and where are they coming from? 

Gary: Mostly customers looking to do feature walls to really make an impact. Customers come from all over - taste is a worldwide fashion. 

Digger: And what are the sorts of settings they are being used in? 

Gary: All over the house. Anywhere to make an impact.

Digger: What sort of feedback and comments have you been getting from clients? 

Gary: Very rarely, if ever do we get a bad one. People love them as most are vinyl - paste the wall and they are easy to hang so the end job is usually very good even from DIY’ers.

Digger: What is this enduring fascination people have generally with Retro in all its forms? And do you think retro is here to stay? 

Gary: I think obviously the vibrant colours are the most important. I think like all fashion trends, they come and go. I somewhat link Retro and Nostalgia and the fascination with the past as something that will always be here. At the moment its 60’s and 70’s and Retro styles. Let's hope its not the 80’s as the papers were pretty poor then. 

Digger: What are the best things and what do you most enjoy about selling these wallpapers? 

Gary: Fashion. Even when the market changes, so do the trends. As an independent retailer it's important to stay on top of this. If we see a range we like we can have it in store on-line and selling within a few days. 

Digger: Are there plans for further retro-style products from UK Wallpaper Gary? 

Gary: As and when new ranges are launched we will continue to add them to our stock selection.
