Formed from the West End cast of the Broadway
musical “Beatlemania”, The Bootleg Beatles’ career began at a now
long forgotten student’s bash in Tiverton, Devon, UK on March 26th 1980
- almost ten years to the day since Paul McCartney announced the
original’s had split. Giving themselves six months to make or break it,
the group signed up to the late Brian Epstein’s NEMS agency. The new
band’s calendar slowly filled with a mix of all-night college balls and
tough tours of the Working Men’s Clubs of the North of England and
Scotland - The Bootleg’s Hamburg. Over the years The Bootleg Beatles have performed in front of many, many thousands of people including such notable luminaries as Sir Paul McCartney, George Harrison, George Martin and Her Majesty, The Queen. Of all the venues they have played perhaps none (aside from Buckingham Palace!) was more auspicious than their appearance on the rooftop of the Apple Building at 3, Savile Row, London. On the freezing morning of 30th January 1999 the BBs performance commemorated the Fab Fours' farewell gig exactly 30 years ago to the day, the event transmitted on news channels across the globe. |

get to know our talents as The Forces Sweethearts Louise graduated from Mountview Theatre School in 1996. After making her professional debut playing Heather, in the BBC sitcom, 'Grown Ups', she went to appear in 'Peak Practice', 'Band of Gold' (series 3) and Brookside. Louise has also made numerous TV Commercials. Her theatre credits include the D'oyly Carte Opera Company's West End productions of the 'Mikado' and 'The Pirates of Penzance'. She has appeared in the 'Little Shop of Horrors', 'Escape from Pterodactyl Island', 'Yee Haw' and 'Trial by Jury', all in London. Louise also appeared for a season with the G & S Opera Company for the Buxton Opera House, and a very successful run as a tap dancing cow in 'Jack and the Beanstalk' at the Salisbury Playhouse. Deborah graduated from Mountview Theatre School in 1996. She made her professional debut in 'Les Miserables' at the Palace Theatre in London's West End. Her other West End credits include, 'A Midsummer Nights Dream', 'Troilus and Cressida' and 'Gentleman prefer Blondes'. She also had a leading role in 'Forbidden Broadway' at the Albery Theatre, London, where her Barbera Streisand impersonation is still talked about today! Peter began his education in the entertainment
business at the age of five at the Barbara Speak stage school in London.
After this, Peter was educated by his father Lonnie Donegan, M.B.E. as
well as receiving private tuition on the piano, achieving grade 7 as well
as attending the summer school at Sylvia Young's theatre school at the age
of thirteen. Once Peter turned eighteen, he was invited to join the Lonnie Donegan Band, performing as keyboard player with the band and as the opening act before each concert. Peter spent two years in the band where he was able to learn hands on from the experience of his father Lonnie and during that time he also worked with Van Morrison. After the untimely death of Lonnie during a tour, the family organized, a tribute at the Royal Albert Hall in London, during which, Peter and the Lonnie Donegan Band were provided backing for a kaleidoscope of well known artists, which included, Chas 'n' Dave, Billy Bragg, Rolf Harris, Ralf McTell, Barron Nights, Rick Wakeman, Mark Knopfler, Joe Brown, Roger Daltrey, Joe Cocker, Van Morrison, Chris Barber, Bruce Welch and Chris Farlowe. In 2007, Peter performed on tour with Crystal Gayle on her British tour as her opening act and performed a song with Crystal and her band during her set. Peter has performed with a variety of musicians at The Sage, Gateshead as a guest: - Bill Wyman and his Rhythm Kings, featuring Eddie Floyd, Albert Lee and Hogan's Heroes. Peter then formed his own band, the Peter Donegan Band playing a mixture of material that Lonnie played but in Peter's own style and new material written by Peter. In 2006, they recorded a live album, The Elephant on the Tyne. They played at venues across the North East as well as appearing at a number of festivals, developing a fan base along the way. In 2009 Peter decided that he wanted to take a different musical direction and teamed up with the original Lonnie Donegan Band and took to the road with The Lonnie Donegan Band featuring Peter Donegan. The Cavernites are a Four piece band in
the classic Sixties style, from Liverpool, who perform a Sixties tribute
show that recreates the vibrant sounds and atmosphere of the Swinging
Sixties. The band take their name from the fan club members of The
Cavern Club in Liverpool, the most famous club in the world, the club
that saw the birth of The Beatles and showcased all the top bands during
the Sixties. Britain in 1962, and especially Liverpool, was a place where the Rock n’ Roll of the fifties had been fused with American R’n’B by the local beat groups, to create a raw, high-energy brand of music which was honed in sweaty pubs and clubs, such as The Cavern Club in Liverpool, and The Kaiserkeller, Indra and Star clubs in Hamburg. The Cavernites re-create those days and the birth of what became known as Mersey Beat or The Liverpool or Mersey Sound a musical style that took the UK by storm, influencing countless groups across the country. The Cavernites recreate this era performing classic hits from groups like The Beatles, The Searchers, The Swinging Blue Jeans, The Mersey’s, The Hollies, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Who and many other hit groups from the Sixties. The Cavernites bring The Sixties back to life, taking the audience on a Magical Musical History Tour, through One of the greatest musical decades of all time, it's a fast and vibrant show, designed to get everyone dancing along. The Cavernites are an accurate live recreation of a Sixties pop group during the Beatlemania years as seen on shows like 'Ready Steady Go’ and ’Top of the Pops' authentically recreating not only the look but the live sound of the bands they perform, bring back the vibrancy and passion of the original bands and transporting the audience right back to the Sixties. The Cavernites use original instruments from the period, names like Rickenbacker, Epiphone, Gibson, and the famous Hofner Violin Beatle Bass, together with a Black Ludwig drum kit, they also use original amplifiers, names such as Marshal and Vox. Naomi’s musical talent and extraordinary
voice were first recognised when she was just a young teenager. This was
hardly surprising given the way in which her parents had immersed her in the
music of Bessie Smith, Leadbelly, Robert Johnson and other blues Greats and
it was only natural that she should move onto listening to such jazz Divas
as Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald. Naomi’s desire to entertain led her to sing with a number of different bands on the jazz and blues circuit in her early twenties, and she was chosen to sing live on BBC Radio Shropshire in 1996. Despite taking a short break to marry and have children Naomi inevitably returned to her singing career three years ago and immediately found herself in great demand at a variety of society functions, including weddings, fashion shows, vintage themed dances/parties (playing popular music from the 1900s - 1940s) and the 2009 and 2010 Ludlow Food Festival. Currently Naomi provides a stunning front for a sixteen piece show band as well as mesmerising the audience with her more intimate Naomi Payne Quartet which plays jazz, blues, classic and Latin numbers. Together these two allow her to give full range to her magnificent voice, equally comfortable delivering the husky blues classics as the show stopping Broadway hits. Lovers Songbook Like numerous other singers of the mid-sixties, I learned my trade on the Mecca Dance Hall circuit, which led to offers of sessions with the BBC. For many years, I worked with bands and orchestras at various venues: with a twenty-piece orchestra, crammed into The Opposite Lock Club, Birmingham, to Fairfield Hall, in Croydon and The Chichester Festival Theatre, sometimes finding myself supporting artists like Lulu and Cilla Black. I’ve been very fortunate to have worked with extremely talented musicians, and directors such as Brian Fahey and Malcolm Lockyer. One session included Marion Montgomery and her husband, Laurie Holloway …… wonderful! The music and composers that have influenced me the most, are represented on this CD: the melodies, the simple, yet so-effective lyrics, combine to express the ever bitter-sweet wonders of being in love.
