Brits) Shag, (a name which comes from the last two letters of his first
name and the first two letters of his last name: Josh Agle) is a product
of the sprawling suburbs of Los Angeles, California. He was born a little
too late to experience the culture and styles which have always fascinated
him and are present in most of his illustration and painting. Agle is
intrigued with the slick commercial art and advertising of the late '50s
and early '60s and he strives for a tight, clean and well crafted
appearance to his work. |

The Portelli Pop Icon collection starts with Frank Sinatra as the first musical icon to be adopted by teenagers in the new radio and television world. The 18 pieces I have chosen for this collection have been selected because they represent a cultural shift and are therefore a milestone along the route that is a documentary on social history spanning 6 decades. In order to bring this collection into the public domain I chose to present my concept to the Dragons' Den panel of entrepreneurs, which could either sink the boat or bring the project into the public eye at a level I have aspired to for the last 30 years. In 1963 an unknown artist created four
designs for the tobacco companies in the USA. This artwork, was
commissioned for the packaging of four of the leading varieties of
Marijuana at the time. It was hoped that marijuana would be legalised in
the USA and sold over the counter across the United States. These designs
were to form the branding for those cigarette packs, in which the ready
made herbal cigarette would be sold. These designs were once lost to the world and only found some 37 years later. The original pre print material was found during an office clearance in America. Marijuana Prints now owns the copyright to these recovered treasures. Featuring the four most favoured herbal smokes of that time, which were arguably, Red Lebanese (Hash) Indian Temple Ball (Hash) Acapulco Gold (Weed) and Moroccan Pollen, the essence of mind blowing highs. Marijuana Prints bring you these wonderful designs as A3 prints which are available exclusively from Marijuana Prints.
